HELLO! I’M JIM HOGGATT

Welcome to My Site

2018 TO 2021 - ADVERSITY, TRANSITION & SUCCESS

May I ask you to take some time to hear my story?

Walt Disney once said: "All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you."

As I reflect on the positive and negatives things that have been said over the past three years...the encouragers and the hecklers... I'm reminded of the quote from Proverbs 20:3: "It is to one's honor to avoid strife. But every foolish person is quick to argue," and from Proverbs 29:9, "If a wise man argues with a foolish person, the foolish person only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet." Trying to discuss logic with a heckler is often a waste of time.

Over my life, I've made many mistakes and done some foolish things (as my wife and children can attest), and we've lived through some adversity. This is the short story of my world from May 2018 to June 2021.

The Turning Point
As a brief background, I joined a large national CFO consulting firm in January 2014. As a Senior Partner in the firm for most of this five year period, I had developed a successful practice in Phoenix and Kansas City and had been asked on many occasions to help recruit new partner candidates.

After a 6+ year battle with dementia, my mom Dorothy passed away in May of 2018, and my mother-in-law Ruth passed away about six weeks later. Both Dorothy and Ruth were in their 90's...great Christian ladies who were ready to go home to meet their Savior. The remaining part of 2018 was a time for family, moving their treasured possessions, and closing out the estates.

Toward the end of 2018, I worked to rebuild my client base and re-connect with my business network. I had also volunteered to help my firm with several projects to prepare for the upcoming 2019 annual meeting. Life, I thought, was starting to get back to normal.

The Birth of ExecHQ
For many reasons, which are no longer worth the time to repeat, I announced my retirement from my previous firm in February 2019.

What I had experienced in the years leading up to the deaths in 2018 taught me a great lesson...family and faith needed to come first.  Although personal and firm revenues and profits may drop significantly when you are caring for loved ones, caring for loved ones is more important than revenues and profits.

Determined to create an advisory firm where the firm's advisors (even if I were the only one in the firm) could openly put their families first, I formed CEO Solutions Partners in March 2019. After a rebranding process later that year, I renamed my firm to ExecHQ. In late April 2019, we added our first executive advisor (other than myself). We had now doubled in size...from a one-person firm to a two-person firm.  :)

ExecHQ's Success
Since its founding in March 2019, ExecHQ has grown to over 130 Executive Advisors in 35 U.S. States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. We have over 50 Strategic Alliance Partner firms in North America. We are also part of one of the best CPA firm alliances in the United States. Despite critics, hecklers, struggles and a world-wide pandemic, we are blessed to have a great organization with unbelievably talented people and a great culture.

I want to thank my family, many of my former partners, our current business associates, and our clients for their encouragement and the trust they've put in us.

The struggles that I've faced are nothing compared to what many people have endured throughout the world's history. Although you may face struggles, critics, and hecklers, I would encourage you to persevere and follow after your dreams, pursue truth, and seek to bring kindness and peace to all people.

Grace and peace! Jim
